Lea Salonga: No Respect For Singers Who Lip-Sync

International star Lea Salonga had a guesting on Martin Nievera's late-night talk show Martin Late @ Night which aired on Friday, May 17. The Broadway diva weighed in on a number of issues and personalities during the said guesting.

Martin threw in topics in the form of hash tag and Lea Salonga answered those as if she were tweeting. One of the hash tags was #SingersWhoLipsync and the star of Miss Saigon candidly said "Unless you're on your death bed, I have no respect for that."

Who wouldn't love Lea for being straightforward and true to herself? The Tony award-winner even called herself a b***h, which we can expect at least when she sit on the red chair as a coach in the much anticipated The Voice of the Philippines airing this June.

Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) Season 4 Wildcard Possible

The fourth season of Pilipinas Got Talent has just revealed its first batch of grand finalists on Sunday, May 19 during the live semifinals results night. The outcome of the show, however, was met with criticisms from netizens.

Many netizens were disappointed with the inclusion of MP3 Band in the set of PGT 4 grand finalists. The three-member band from Davao got the highest percentage of text and online votes (25.69%) which automatically earned them a slot in the grand finals.

The band trended on Twitter right after the announcement Sunday night and as of this writing, MP3 Band still   appeared as one of the top ten trending topics in the said micro-blogging site. The band is trending though because of many negative tweets saying that they don't deserve the finals slot.

Netizens sided with Chaeremon Basa, a young flair tender from Bacolod who wowed many, including the judges, during his semifinals performance. The judges and the audience from PAGCOR Grand Theater even gave him a standing ovation right after.

Many believed that Chaeremon very much deserved to be in the grand finals and even blamed the voting public and the judges for picking Youtube sensation Roel Manlangit over the guy. But much of their ire was on MP3 Band which according to them is undeserving and if only votes will not be the basis, it could have been Chaeremon, Zilent Overload and Roel taking the first three finals slots.

Rumors also surfaced that the judges decided that two of them will vote for Chaeremon and one will go with Roel but apparently, judge FMG chose the singer over the flair tender based on their performance come results night. That decision shocked the whole PAGCOR, even judge Kris. Talks also said that even the hosts and the staff of the show were rattled with what transpired Sunday night.

With these reactions, there's a huge possibility that we will be seeing another wildcard round just like what happened in season 2 wherein heavy favorite Rico, The Magician was eliminated during the first semifinals round but the show introduced a wildcard round, a first in PGT history, perhaps to accommodate the bigger audience's choice.

If the wildcard round will be implemented this season, the audience will be solely determining which act or two acts will be going to the finals. The people love wildcard contestants and it's a known truth that many wildcard contestants like Erik Santos, XB Gensan and Agravante Family of It's Showtime had remarkable comebacks and won the whole thing.

The Miss Philippines Earth 2013 Pageant happened May 19 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. Angelee Claudett delos Reyes from Olongapo City was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2013 and will represent the country in the Miss Earth pageant later this year.

Angelee Claudett delos Reyes, a pageant veteran, beat 46 other lovely ladies from different cities and municipalities in the Philippines to grab the crown on the 13th edition of the pageant which is celebrating the international year of water cooperation.

PGT 4 Semifinals Results Night (May 19): MP3 Band, Zilent Overload and Roel Manlangit Enter Grand Finals

The first batch of grand finalists of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 4 was revealed Sunday, May 19 on the show's live semifinals results night held at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque.

Before the big reveal, Pilipinas Got Talent presented a birthday surprise for Billy Crawford. The show prepared a "Sine Mo 'To" segment just for the birthday boy participated by his girlfriend Nikki Gil, Bugoy Carino, Sam Concepcion, Kris Lawrence, and Eric ' Eruption' Tai.

The first slot on PGT 4 grand  finals was taken by MP3 Band. The acoustic trio got the highest number of votes (25.69%) from among the first batch of semifinalists even though they did not get good reviews from the judges on last night's performance show. This just means that the band had a huge fan base at this early.

Flair tender Chaeremon Basa, black light dancers Zilent Overload and singer Roel Manlangit all performed for the judges' votes. After their performances, the big three judges were unanimous in making Zilent Overload part of the grand finals, hence the black light performers took the second finals slot.

However, the judges were split between Chaeremon and Roel. Kris and FMG voted for Roel Manlangit while it was only Ai Ai who chose Chaeremon Basa. Based on majority votes, the young YouTube sensation beat the flair tender for tonight's last grand finals slot.

Many were disappointed with the inclusion of MP3 Band to the list of grand finalists, the reason they trended on Twitter. Netizens opined that Chaeremon should be the one joining the finals together with Zilent Overload and Roel Manlangit. Others were also shocked with FMG's decision on going with Roel instead of Chaeremon who received a standing ovation from all three judges and made the PAGCOR audience wild with his performance the other night.

Meanwhile, aside from Chaeremon, other acts which failed to advance to the grand finals were mask man and quick change artists Tito Cris Castro and dancing twins Symmetry. Next week, the last batch of semifinalists will perform to capture the last three grand finals slots.

Ai Ai Delas Alas broke down in tears as she revealed the reason why they split up. The comedy queen admitted that she was physically abused by Jed Salang, which led to her decision to leave him last May 2. She also tearfully said she believes Salang never loved her.

Ai Ai Revealed Reason for Break Up with Jed Salang: "Hinagis niya ako sa kama...kinaladkad sa sahig"

Actress Ai Ai Delas Alas confirmed that she and Jed Salang have separated. In an interview with The Buzz host Boy Abunda aired Sunday, May 19, the comedy queen revealed the reason why she broke up with his husband of one month.

According to Ai Ai, it was May 2 when the separation happened. The break up stemmed from what Ai Ai discovered from Jed Salang. 

Ai Ai confessed that she and Jed had a heated argument after the latter requested that they spend their monthsary in a hotel casino. Ai Ai did not like the idea, contemplating that Jed might only gamble in the casino. The argument turned into a physical fight.

"Hinagis niya ako sa kama, sampalan, bunuan...kinaladkad niya ako sa sahig," Ai Ai told host Boy Abunda.

Ai Ai also said that a friend told her about the real intention of Jed in marrying her and that there is a third party involved in the separation.

Ai Ai felt sorry for herself since she made herself believe that everything was fine. She tried to hide everything unpleasant about Jed since she was protecting him and she don't want her children to know that she's hurting. The actress said that she loved Jed but after what she learned about the guy, that love turned into hatred and anger.

"Sa lahat ng nalaman ko, tingin ko hindi [niya ako minahal]. Kahit kelan, hindi," a crying Ai Ai said when asked whether she thought Jed loved her.

The actress had nothing to say to Jed Salang and just let her lawyer fix the divorce and all the legalities involved in the formal separation. Watch the UNCUT version of Ai Ai's The Buzz interview here.

ABS-CBN noontime show It's Showtime presented the biggest gathering of celebrity look-a-like on its 'Parade of Stars' which happened Saturday, May 18.

The It's Showtime Kalokalike 'Parade of Stars' is part of the preparations for the upcoming grand finals of the hit noontime show segment. The 44 kalokalike will battle in the Kalokalike Level Up (round 2) to earn a shot at the Kalokalike grand finals where the ultimate kalokalike will win P300,000.

Popular kalokalikes include the look-a-like of Daniel Padilla, Coco Martin, Joey De Leon, Adele, Kim Chiu,  Angelica Panganiban, Teddy Corpuz, Christopher De Leon, Robin Padilla, Dingdong Dantes, Manny Pacquiao and wife Jinkee, and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

Bella Flores Dies | Iconic Villain Dead at 84

Primera kontrabida Bella Flores died early Sunday morning, May 19. The actress, best known for her villain roles succumb to diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. She was 84.

According to reports, Bela Flores was rushed to the Quezon City General Hospital by her daughter, Ruby Arcilla, and singer Imelda Papin, but was declared dead at 1:27 am.

Born Remedios Papa Dancel, Bella Flores became a prized contract artist of film production company Sampaguita Pictures in the 1950s. She rose to fame for her role as a villainous stepmother to two children in the 1951 film Roberta.

Bella Flores then went on to star in subsequent films as a "kontrabida," cementing her stature as the most recognizable and enduring actress to take on the archetype. She has appeared in over 100 films, won FAMAS Best Supporting Actress in 1967 for her role in the film Kaibigan Ko'ng Sto. Nino and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Film Academy of the Philippines in 1989.

Bella's most recent film project was the short comedy film 'Kontrabida 101' released by Benchingko Films in August last year, in celebration of Bench's 25th anniversary.

Be Careful With My Heart Movie, Star Cinema's MMFF 2013 Entry

Hit kilig-serye Be Careful With My Heart starring Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap will reportedly have a film version which will join this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2013).

According to a report published Thursday on entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portal, Star Cinema's entry to the 39th edition of the annual film festival is a movie version of Be Careful With My Heart.

The hit daytime TV series first aired in July 2012 and since then, the whole nation was hooked with the story of Maya, an aspiring flight attendant who leaves the province for Manila to pursue her dreams and Ser Chief, a widowed businessman who hired Maya as a family maid and helped her realize her dreams.

Due to its immense success, the show has been extended several times and is now close to airing for a year now. According to ABS-CBN chief executive officer Charo Santos-Concio, as long as the public supports the said kilig-serye, it will stay on air.

Be Careful With My Heart, which is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and Mervyn Brondial is currently the No. 1 daytime series in the Philippines. 

If the planned movie version of Be Careful With My Heart for MMFF 2013 will push through, it will be the very first time that a film based on a TV series will join the annual festival. However, it's not the first one to be made into a movie. In 1999, Star Cinema also did the film version of highly successful soap operas Esperanza starring Judy Ann Santos and Mula Sa Puso starring Claudine Barretto and the late Rico Yan.

Ai Ai, Husband Jed Salang Break Up: Report

Comedy Queen Ai Ai Delas Alas and husband Jed Salang have reportedly separated after over a month of being together as husband and wife, a report published Friday on the entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portal said.

"Hiwalay na si Ai-Ai delas Alas at ang kanyang asawa na si Jed Salang. Ikinasal sina Ai-Ai at Jed sa isang civil wedding ceremony sa Las Vegas noon lamang April 3, 2013," PEP Alerts reported.

Hours after PEP posted the news, Ai Ai posted a bible verse on her Instagram.

"EXODUS 14:14… the Lord will fight for you and you only have to be silent… SA LAHAT PO NG MGA NAGMAMAHAL SAKEN… reg PEP ALERT IBIGAY NYO MUNA ANG PANANAHIMIK KO SA BAGAY NA ITO.. ako na mismo ang magsasabi pag ready na ako emotionally.. SALAMAT SA LAHAT NG SUPORTA AT PAGMAMAHAL NYO SA AKIN GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!"

The IG post somehow confirmed that Ai Ai is going through a rough time. However, despite the separation news, Ai Ai still appeared as a guest in Vice Ganda's Araneta concert on Friday. In the said concert, Vice asked Ai Ai before the latter's solo number if she wanted to tell something but Ai Ai replied: 

"Ayaw ko. Huwag naman dito. Nag-guest na nga ako sa ’yo kahit ang dami kong pinagdadaanan, e. Umalis ka na. Huwag mo nang sabihin ‘yon."

Before this reported break up, Ai Ai admitted that she and Jed briefly separated February over the latter's apprehensions about settling down. The two however, managed to settle the issue and in a month's time had their wedding in Las Vegas.

Ai Ai, who is 20 years older than Jed, expressed on her interviews the desire to give her husband a child, which might not come into fruition after this break up reports surfaced.

Many were shocked and became sad after hearing the news of the two separating. Many still wished that they will reconcile and eventually pursue their scheduled church wedding December this year.
