Vilma Santos to Retire from Politics in 2016? Luis Manzano Political Plans Bared

Posted on February 26, 2014 | 8:03 PM

After quashing reports that she will run for vice president in the 2016 national elections, Batangas Governor Vilma Santos–Recto hints at her possible retirement from politics in “Tapatan Ni Tunying” this Thursday (Feb 27).

Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto

“I want to have time for myself too. I’m not getting any younger,” Gov. Vilma says in her interview with anchor Anthony Taberna.

The multi-awarded actress turned politician believes that she has already accomplishment so much as a public servant because she was able to gain the trust of Batangueños.

“The mere fact that the people of Batangas, known as ‘barakos,’ trust a woman, that they believe in me and follow my orders — that’s priceless,” she proudly says.

However, she said her political supporters should not be dismayed as she is still uncertain about her retirement plans. “I don’t want to give confirmation yet because things may change. Just like when I became governor, and then mayor. I did not plan that, it just happened,” she shares.

Meanwhile, Gov. Vilma also tackles rumors that her eldest son Luis Manzano is planning to get into politics and run for office in Batangas.

“When I was mayor, some were urging Lucky to run. I also asked him if he’s interested. He said ‘Yes, maybe. I grew up seeing you in that kind of job, but I will tell you if I’m prepared already,’” she reveals.

Gov. Vilma, on the other hand, believes that it’s not yet time for Luis to venture into public governance. “I don’t think he’s ready. But if he decides to run for a position, I will send him to school first just like how Sen. Ralph Recto told me to do,” she shares.

Marian Rivera, Richard Yap, Piolo Pascual Together in Vilma Santos' Indie Movie 'Extra'

Posted on February 25, 2013 | 12:01 PM

Who would have thought that Marian Rivera, Piolo Pascual and Richard Yap will be in one movie with the Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos?

Marian Rivera, Richard Yap and Piolo Pascual in Vilma Santos' Indie Movie 'Extra'

Well, that it so the case with the indie movie titled Extra, an official entry to the 2013 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. Marian, Piolo and Richard though will only have cameo appearances in the said film, a Philstar article reported.

Topbilled by Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto, the indie movie will chronicle the life of a movie 'extra' or those that were asked to play minor roles in the background, most of the time without any single dialogue.

Marian and Piolo, according to reports will be playing the lead stars of the "movie within the movie." It is not yet revealed though whether the three will be having scenes together or it will be only one of  them at a time with Vilma in the shoot.

Marian had already shot some scenes with Ate Vi who is very thankful that Marian took time in her busy schedule to have a cameo appearance in the movie.

Piolo Pascual already starred in indie movies in the past and it will be the first time for Marian Rivera and Richard yap to be part of an indie film, though theirs will not be starring roles, unlike what Piolo has done before.

Extra is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and will be produced by Quantum Films of Atty. Joji Alonso.

Coco Martin, Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos Movie in the Works!

Posted on September 12, 2012 | 10:29 AM

Walang Hanggan star Coco Martin revealed that he is looking forward to doing a project with Philippine cinema's finest, Superstar Nora Aunor and Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos.

The said movie will be helmed by Cannes Best Director Brillante Mendoza.

Vilma Santos, Coco martin and Nora Aunor Movie by Brillante Mendoza

Although there is nothing definite yet about the dream project, many fans are already excited as the county's best will be put together in one movie.

According to Direk Brillante Mendoza, he already had a talk with both Ate Guy and Ate Vi for the said project but the problem still lies with the schedule. As for Coco Martin, he is looking forward that the dream project will push through.

“Dati pa nakonsepto 'yun. Sabi ko nga sana matuloy. Kahit anong trabaho, gagawin ko ang lahat para matuloy. Masuwerte [ako]. Sabi ko nga makatrabaho ko lang sila [Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos] okay na eh. Basta parte ako ng pelikula,  isang malaking karangalan na sa akin” Coco told ABS-CBN News.

Many speculated about the story of the said film. Some suggested that a love triangle movie involving two older women and a younger man will be a good and controversial one. Others thought of making Coco a dance instructor (D.I.) for both Nora and Vilma.

However, according to a reliable source, the story will revolve around a legitimate and illegitimate wife with Coco Martin playing the son of either Ate Guy or Ate Vi. As to who will be the legit, that is what we need to find out.

The Nora-Coco-Vilma movie is reportedly being pitched to Star Cinema.
