The Voice Kids Starts this Summer; Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga are Hosts

Posted on March 17, 2014 | 11:17 PM

The search for the next singing superstar is back as the top-rating and Twitter-trending ultimate singing-reality search “The Voice of the Philippines” returns to ABS-CBN this summer.

The Voice Kids hosts: Luis Manzan and Alex Gonzaga with returning coaches Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo Manalac and Lea Salonga

This year, it will launch the highly anticipated “The Voice Kids,” featuring kids aged eight to 14 years old with the most unique and supreme singing voices.

Sitting again as coaches in “The Voice Kids” are Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, Rock Superstar Bamboo, and Broadway Diva Lea Salonga.

It will be hosted by Luis Manzano and season one V Reporter Alex Gonzaga.

“The Voice of the Philippines” raised the bar of singing competitions by focusing on vocal supremacy, not the looks or the back stories of the artists. Its first season also elicited excitement among audiences with its world-class production and riveting storytelling of the journey of both the artists and coaches.

Season one produced the first ever “Voice of the Philippines” Mitoy of Team Lea, who proved to be a first-class vocal talent that can compete in the global arena.

The Philippine adaptation of the popular international TV franchise turned out to be highly successful, engaging audiences on-air, online, and on mobile as it constantly won the ratings game, dominated social media, and rallied viewers to vote for their voice of choice week after week.

The show’s unique format extremely appealed to Filipino viewers, especially its “blind auditions” where hopefuls auditioned by singing on stage with the coaches facing against them.

It not only saw the artists competing, but also the coaches who battled each other in picking artists, and when their respected teams delivered the best performances during the live shows leading to the finale.

Posted on January 28, 2014 | 6:26 PM

Fourteen pairs of overweight Filipinos embark on a journey that will change their lives beginning Monday (Feb. 3) with the much-anticipated premiere of the country’s biggest reality show, “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles.”

Team Biggest Loser

The reality show’s second Philippine edition is hosted by acclaimed actress Iza Calzado. She will be joined by challenge masters Matteo Guidicelli and Robi Domingo, along with fitness coaches Jim and Toni Saret who will train and help the contestants reclaim their health.

After scouring the country for pairs with heartwarming stories, “Biggest Loser Doubles” will introduce in its premiere the 14 pairs of contestants Filipinos can draw inspiration from. They are:
  • Ralph and Christian (brothers)
  • Tin and Dianne (sisters)
  • Carl and Kayen (married couple)
  • Bryan and Ikya (siblings)
  • Bien and Mai (officemates)
  • Tristan and Jepoy (bestfriends)
  • Lovely and Carol (cousins)
  • Chrisfer and Chesfer (twins)
  • Pat and Cathy (from two showbiz clans)
  • Cherry and Randall (UST Gawi ex-members)
  • Benzi and Ysai (pageant rivals)
  • Francis and Andrew (stranger pair)
  • Osie and Nina (mother-daughter tandem)
  • Biggie and Valerie (boyfriend-girlfriend)
In the first week of “Biggest Loser Doubles,” the 14 pairs will go through pre-camp, the first part of the competition where they will be asked to lose weight on their own, using only the things that are readily available in their homes and environment, for 30 days.

The 14 pairs will then meet and weigh themselves on the “Timbangan ng Bayan,” which will determine which of the pairs lost the highest percentage of their total weight and enter the “Biggest Loser Doubles” camp.

Inside the camp, each pair is expected to do everything it takes to stay in the competition and encourage each other to lose weight — a twist that will also test their relationship as relatives, work colleagues, or friends and will show that in having a partner, the journey to a better life will be lighter.

Watch them change not only their bodies, but also their lives as they compete with each other in a bid to win P1 million, appliance showcase, P100,000 worth of sports merchandise from Toby’s, lifetime gym membership at Gold’s Gym, a kitchen showcase, among others.

Judy Ann Santos to Host 'I Do' | New ABS-CBN Reality Show for Couples

Posted on January 20, 2014 | 4:28 PM

Acclaimed actress and TV personality Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo was revealed as the host of “I Do,” a reality show originally conceptualized by ABS-CBN that will feature couples who want to tie the knot.

Judy Ann led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, blessing, and tour of the “I Do” Village where the participating couples will reside and their relationship be tested before facing the altar.

“This village was especially built for this show. We will give the couples challenges not to break them apart, but to strengthen their relationship so they become more mature in dealing with life,” said Judy Ann.

Judy Ann hopes that the program will guide the participating couples and make them get to know each other better by immersing them in possible situations they may encounter if they get married. Viewers will track their progress as cameras will record their every move 24/7.

“This is the first time I’m doing a show that’s similar to ‘Pinoy Big Brother,’ but this is ‘PBB’ times five. All issues will be tackled here – from having kids, living with the in-laws, to expenses. We hope we inspire couples and show them that marriage is an eternal vow and a commitment,” she said.

Aside from hosting the program, Judy Ann will also sit as member of the council as a homemaker, along with love and family experts who will give advice to the participating couples.

“I feel tense because I’ve only been married for five years, so my ability to give advice and share my experiences will be tested. I’m glad that I’m doing a show no one has ever done before,” shared Judy Ann.
Spell grand! The 'I Do' Village built especially for the ABS-CBN reality show

The event at the “I Do” village was attended by ABS-CBN TV production head Laurenti Dyogi, the program’s business unit head Mercee Gonzales, and other executives from ABS-CBN’s TV entertainment division.

The reality show’s winning pair is off to a good start as husband and wife because they will be rewarded with a grand wedding, a honeymoon package, a new car, a house and lot, and P1 million.

Judy Ann has headlined several hosting projects including reality shows “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” and “MasterChef Pinoy Edition,” for which she won the Best Reality Show Host award at the PMPC Star Awards for TV. Judy Ann is the current host of top-rating game show “Bet On Your Baby” that is close to her heart as a mother.

I Dare You Season 2 Premieres October 12 on ABS-CBN

Posted on October 11, 2013 | 7:40 PM

ABS-CBN’s realiserye “I Dare You” will lead the journey towards change as it shows celebrities and extraordinary Filipinos teaming up to face real-life challenges in a more daring and inspiring second season, which premieres on Saturday (Oct 12) on ABS-CBN.

I Dare You Season 2 Hosted by Deniesse, Robi, John and Melai Premieres October 12 on ABS-CBN

Hosted by John Prats, former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Deniesse Aguilar, Robi Domingo, and Melai Cantiveros, “I Dare You” will test the spirit, determination, and partnership of the “Celebrity Kakampi” and “Bidang Kapamilya,” who will work together to accomplish tasks.

The Bidang Kapamilya are everyday Filipinos and unsung heroes who bravely confront tough challenges such as firemen, sports coaches, farmers, athletes, soldiers, traffic aides, teachers, and many others.

If Season 1 focused on the series of tasks celebrities had to go through to win a reward for the Bidang Kapamilya, Season 2 will highlight the participants’ life-changing journey to foster positive change for themselves, their families, and their communities.

John shared that in Season 2, he and his co-hosts immerse directly and extensively in the Bidang Kapamilya’s world and get to experience the same challenges the celebrities have to go through.

“What’s good about this season is the immersion. We don’t just do something for a day, like sell something at a wet market, and that’s it. Now I understand other people’s lives better. I didn’t think I would be able to overcome what I did, but something was at stake, so I just did what I had to do. It feels good to be able to help others,” said John.

According to Robi, some celebrities even live and work with the Bidang Kapamilya for long periods, from five days to almost a month.

“‘Some celebrities don’t go home on a daily basis, and if they do, they come back to establish a connection, to relive the life of the Bidang Kapamilya. It’s reality at its finest,” he said.

He added, “In the program, we will show that you don’t have to be an Andres Bonifacio or a Jose Rizal to be a hero. We will showcase people who may be doing simple things but have a big impact on others, who don’t look for extravagance and credit. These stories are worth-sharing and inspiring.”

Hosting newbie Deniesse, meanwhile, is very excited or her first hosting project right after leaving the Big Brother house. She shared that aside from articulating spiels properly, she also learned how to mingle and relate to the Bidang Kapamilya.

“This is a huge opportunity and break for me. I’m very thankful for this because it helped me grow as a host and as a person,” said Deniesse.

Deniesse also noted that while she and her co-hosts have different roles in the realiserye, she will act as the ‘kabarkada’ who will listen to the participants’ grievances and ease their burden.

Join John Prats, Deniesse Aguilar, Robi Domingo, and Melai Cantiveros as they showcase Filipinos who brave through life’s challenges in ABS-CBN’s newest realiserye “I Dare You,” which stars airing Saturday night (Oct 12) after “Maalaala Mo Kaya.” For updates, like facebook.com/IDAREYOUSEASON2 or follow ang @IDareYouS2 on Twitter and @idareyouofficial on Instagram.
